The Contributory Parent Visa subclass 143 is a type of visa that allows parents of Australian citizens or permanent residents to migrate to Australia with their children who are already living in Australia.
Due to the lengthy processing time of the non-contributory parent visa (currently over 30 years), the only feasible solution to bring parents to Australia for permanent residency is through the contributory parent visa 143.
The applicant for this contributory visa must have at least as many children living in Australia as they have living in other countries outside Australia.
The applicant must have at least one child who is an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident, or an eligible New Zealand citizen, who has been living in Australia for at least 2 years before the visa 143 application is lodged.
The applicant must meet all health and character requirements.
The 143 visa is a permanent residency visa that allows the visa holder to become an Australian citizen after a certain period of time.
