Conditions for obtaining a visa 300 - Fiancé(e) Visa
You must be outside of Australia when you apply for and receive the visa. You must have met your fiancé(e) in person and have evidence of your relationship. Your fiancé(e) in Australia must have planned and prepared for your marriage registration in Australia. The wedding must take place within 9 months from the date of visa grant.
Advantages of the 300 - Fiancé(e) Visa
This visa may require less evidence of your relationship compared to other marriage visas. The processing time for this visa is typically faster. This visa also allows you more time to get to know your future spouse before officially getting married.
When does the 300 Visa become effective?
The 300 - Fiancé(e) Visa is a temporary residence visa that allows you to stay in Australia for up to 9 months. During this time, you must proceed with the marriage registration process and apply for the 820 - Spouse Visa. Once you have applied for the 820 Visa, you will be granted a Bridging Visa which allows you to remain in Australia while waiting for your 820 Visa to be processed. During your stay in Australia with the Bridging Visa, you will still have access to free healthcare with Medicare and be allowed to work without restrictions in Australia.
